I have spoken to audiences and taught executives around the world about visionary leadership, effective teamwork, winning cultures, meaningful communication, and cross-cultural understanding.
My engagements have been sourced through my network and word of mouth. This gave me control over my commitments and international travel, something that became even more important to me after the first of our four grandchildren appeared. My work has kept me active and challenged, as one can read in the 53 short stories I shared in my most recent book, “Exploding Turkeys and Spare Trousers, Adventures in Global Business.”
I am now ready to reach out to a wider audience. So, for the first time, I will be working with a speaker bureau. I am very delighted to have been accepted into the speaker roster at the prestigious Gray + Miller Agency (GMA) whose list of keynote speakers includes recognized and accomplished authors. https://www.graymilleragency.com/
My focus will be on delivering an insider’s view on how a Formula 1 team achieves high performance in a hyper competitive, global industry; and how the lessons that can be learned are relevant to all companies in all industries.
This may be of particular interest to organizations in the USA, where there is an increasing interest in Formula 1 racing now that there are Grand Prix in Austin, Miami, and Las Vegas; not to mention the popularity of Netflix’s “Drive to Survive” series (Season 6 starts February 23rd).
As the late Sir Frank Willams observed, “For two hours on a Sunday afternoon Formula 1 is a sport, all the rest of the time it’s a business.” Formula 1 teams must deliver outstanding results during a grueling 9-month racing season, across 24 race weekends, in 21 countries, on 5 continents. How do they do that?
My presentations tap the research and practical applications from “Performance at the Limit, Business Lessons from Formula 1 Motor Racing (PATL),” published by Cambridge University Press, available also in Japanese, Turkish and Mandarin. PATL also inspired an 8-part television series made by the BBC titled, “Formula for Success.”
Through my association with GMA, I look forward to continuing sharing insights about achieving high performance through collaboration, continual learning, and an entrepreneurial mindset.
