The first edition of ‘Performance at the Limit, Business Lessons from Formula 1 Motor Racing’ published in 2005, set a benchmark for learning about business and leadership from how F1 teams operate. Two revised editions and several translations followed.
In 2007, my co-authors and I also collaborated with the BBC to make an 8-part television series, “Formula for Success.” Produced by Sunset + Vine Productions, the episodes were based on the book’s eight chapters. The series aired for several months on BBC World.
I use clips from the series in my keynotes and executive development workshops, and I am often asked where one can find the series. To my knowledge the full series is not publicly available, but the first episode can be found on YouTube at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9m2JIFPFATs&t=1178s.
This 21-minute episode, “Overview and Money,” includes commentary from several former F1 personalities, a few people still active in the sport, and talking head moments by my co-authors and me.
Even with many changes in Formula 1 over the past twenty years, this production holds up as an excellent overview of the sport and business of F1.
