With very warm days continuing in Finland, it was a relief for the family to swim in the sea at our summerhouse located on an island a short boat trip from Helsinki.
Searching for a towel, I found this slightly worn and faded relic that dates to the 1970’s when I worked for Citibank. First National City Bank became Citibank officially in 1976.
The towel became a talking point as I tried to explain travelers checks to my grandchildren and how important they were in their day.
Back in town last evening and watching the dramatic British Grand Prix, I was reminded of Citi’s foray into sponsoring Formula 1 in the mid-1970’s with the March, Penske and then Tyrrell teams.
