The US Embassy in Finland hosted Independence Day celebrations yesterday. This event typically takes place before July 4th and the Midsummer holiday when Finns disappear to their summer cottages and long vacations.

The day was marked by tacos, hot dogs, BBQ and a wide variety of drinks, entertaining music of different styles, presentation of the colors by the US Embassy Marines, and a flyover of US Air Force F-35s plus Finnish Air Force F-18 Hornets, and catching up with friends in the diplomatic corps and business life.

In his remark Chargés d’Affaires, Chris Krafft highlighted the excellent relationship between the US and Finland in areas such as business, trade, innovation, and defense.

Let the summer begin.
