F1 racing in China after 5 year hiatus

Yesterday, after a five-year hiatus, Formula 1 racing returned to Shanghai for the China Grand Prix. It brought back memories of delivering a “Performance at the Limit” weekend workshop there some years ago for a large Chinese company.

The engagement started on Friday with a full-day “Business Lessons from Formula 1” seminar for the company’s senior executives who partnered in F1-related teamwork exercises with CEOs from several of their clients. Saturday the whole group were at the Shanghai race circuit watching practice and qualifying. We also organized visits down the pit lane and into several team garages. On the Sunday, we viewed the race in style from a VIP suite situated high above the starting grid.

Yesterday’s Sky Sports broadcast of the China Grand Prix featured former Formula 1 World Champion Nico Rosberg doing an excellent job providing color commentary. It reminded me of the first time we met on that trip to Shanghai. He had just signed a contract to start racing the following year with the WilliamsF1 team.
